I agree totally with the main point — although I would say “native apps” over the web rather than “desktop apps”. Desktop is the misnomer now — as on mobile native apps are also apps. To me lack of offline support is the web’s biggest failure, followed by security, and both of those will ultimately be its undoing. Native apps are the way to go, and watch this space — we will see more of them coming soon to all platforms…
